Ingredients:

  • 2 cups dried navy beans
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

  1. Soak the navy beans in water overnight. Drain and rinse before use.
  2. In a large pot, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion to the pot and sauté until translucent.
  4. Stir in the soaked beans, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper.
  5. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Mix well.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beans are tender.
  7. Remove the lid and let it cook for an additional 15 minutes to thicken the sauce if desired.
  8. Serve warm as a side dish or main course.
