Ingredients:

  • 400g spaghetti
  • 300g ground beef
  • 100g ground pork
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 carrot, finely diced
  • 1 celery stalk, finely diced
  • 400g canned tomatoes, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 150ml red wine
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, carrot, and celery, and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef and pork to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomato paste, then add the crushed tomatoes, red wine, oregano, basil, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti in a large pot of salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain.
  6. Serve the spaghetti topped with the Bolognese sauce, garnished with grated Parmesan and fresh basil.
