Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 package puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add a little oil and sauté the chopped onions until they are caramelized, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat and let cool.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef with the cooled onion mixture and mix well.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut each sheet into rectangles, approximately 4 inches by 6 inches.
  6. Place a generous spoonful of the beef mixture along one edge of each pastry rectangle.
  7. Roll the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges with a little beaten egg. Cut each roll into smaller pieces, about 3 inches long.
  8. Place the sausage rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the remaining beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
  10. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
