Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  3. Add the minced garlic, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper to the beef, and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  4. In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  5. Spread half of the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, and top with the remaining cheddar cheese.
  7. Pour the beef broth evenly over the casserole.
  8. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Top each serving with a dollop of sour cream.
