Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp dried thyme

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 oval patties.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they are soft, about 5 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to coat. Slowly add the beef broth and soy sauce, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens.
  6. Add the thyme and season with salt and pepper to taste. Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to heat through.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
