Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and parsley. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 oval patties.
  3. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and keep warm.
  4. In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and sauté until they are browned and tender, about 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and soy sauce, stirring to combine. Bring to a simmer.
  6. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Gradually add this mixture to the skillet while stirring until the gravy thickens.
  7. Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, spoon the mushroom gravy over them, and cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
  8. Serve the Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes or rice, drizzled with the mushroom gravy.
