Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces pasta (penne or fusilli)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cups diced tomatoes (canned or fresh)
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until softened and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juice), dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and slowly stir in the milk, mixing until well combined. Let it simmer for another 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta in the creamy tomato sauce. Stir in the fresh basil and adjust seasoning as needed.
  7. Serve warm, topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
