Ingredients:

  • 4 cups ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cups day-old bread, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, heavy cream, minced garlic, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the cubed bread, followed by half of the tomato mixture, and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  4. Repeat the layers with the remaining bread, tomato mixture, and top with Parmesan cheese.
  5. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
