Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken thighs, skinless and boneless
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the sweet and smoked paprika, cooking for an additional minute to release their flavors.
  4. Add the chicken thighs to the pot, season with salt and pepper, and brown on all sides.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth, cover, and simmer for about 30 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  6. Remove the chicken and stir in the sour cream until well combined. Return the chicken to the pot and let it simmer for another 10 minutes.
  7. For the dumplings, in a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk the milk and egg together.
  8. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  9. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling batter into the simmering sauce. Cover and cook for about 15 minutes until the dumplings are fluffy and cooked through.
  10. Serve the Chicken Paprikash hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
