Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter, for greasing the baking dish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, thyme, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle half of the Gruyère and Parmesan cheeses on top.
  6. Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the top is golden and the potatoes are tender.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
