Ingredients:

  • 4 medium Yukon gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, for greasing the baking dish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced potatoes, olive oil, minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, and pepper. Toss until the potatoes are evenly coated.
  3. Grease a round baking dish with butter. Arrange the potato slices in a circular pattern, overlapping them slightly, to form a spiral.
  4. If using, sprinkle the grated Gruyère cheese evenly over the top of the potatoes.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
  6. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing into wedges. Serve warm.
