Ingredients:

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil.
  4. Stir in the tomato sauce and let it simmer for about 10 minutes to combine the flavors.
  5. Meanwhile, cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  6. In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with half of the Parmesan cheese, a pinch of salt, and a sprinkle of pepper.
  7. To assemble the lasagna, spread a layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, a third of the mozzarella, and another layer of meat sauce.
  8. Repeat the layers (noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, meat sauce) until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of noodles topped with remaining meat sauce and mozzarella cheese.
  9. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese on top.
  10. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
