Ingredients:

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (or honey for a natural sweetener)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, plus extra for garnish
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon slices for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved to create a simple syrup. Remove from heat.
  2. Add the fresh basil leaves to the simple syrup, cover, and let steep for about 30 minutes to infuse the basil flavor.
  3. In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the basil-infused simple syrup. Stir well.
  4. Add the remaining 3 cups of cold water to the pitcher, and mix until combined. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired.
