  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of malt vinegar (for a creative touch)
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder

Instructions:

  1. Peel the russet potatoes and cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. Soak the potato strips in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  3. Drain and pat the potatoes dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  4. In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the potatoes in batches for about 5-6 minutes until they are pale and slightly soft. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  6. Increase the oil temperature to 375°F (190°C) and fry the potatoes again in batches for another 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. While they are hot, sprinkle with salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and a drizzle of malt vinegar for added flavor.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade fries!
