Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add onion, carrots, and peas to the skillet and sauté until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Stir in minced garlic, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Meanwhile, boil the diced potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and return to the pot.
  6. Add milk, butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper to the potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese if using.
  7. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes on top.
  8. Use a fork to create texture on the mashed potatoes. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
