Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground chuck
  • 4 gold potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 stalks celery, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground sage
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground chuck over medium heat. Add the diced onion, celery, and carrots, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in the garlic powder, dried basil, parsley, rosemary, thyme, cumin, and sage. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, milk, and beef broth until smooth. Combine this mixture with the beef and vegetable mixture in the skillet.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom. Pour half of the beef mixture over the potatoes. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and beef mixture.
  6. Top the casserole with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
