Ingredients:

  • 4 cube steaks
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Season the cube steaks with salt and pepper, then sear them in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
  3. Remove the cube steaks from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and sauté until they are translucent and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, onion soup mix, and beef broth until well combined.
  5. Return the cube steaks to the skillet with the sautéed onions and pour the soup mixture over the top, ensuring the steaks are well coated.
  6. Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil and transfer it to the preheated oven. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the steaks are tender.
  7. While the steaks are baking, slice the remaining onions into thick rings. Toss them with a little olive oil, salt, and pepper, and place them on a baking sheet. Roast in the oven for the last 15-20 minutes of cooking time until golden and soft.
  8. Once done, remove the skillet and roasted onions from the oven. Serve the cube steaks topped with the creamy gravy and garnish with roasted onions and fresh parsley if desired.
