Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cabbage, chopped
  • 2 cups diced tomatoes (canned or fresh)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and garlic, sautéing until translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. In a greased casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom.
  6. Spread half of the cooked ground beef mixture over the potatoes, followed by half of the chopped cabbage.
  7. Repeat the layering process with the remaining potatoes, beef mixture, and cabbage.
  8. Cover the casserole with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil, sprinkle cheese on top (if using), and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
