Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Coleslaw (for topping, optional)
  • Pickles (for topping, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Rub the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, mustard powder, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Place the seasoned pork on top of the onions and garlic in the slow cooker.
  4. In a bowl, mix together the apple cider vinegar, chicken broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour this mixture over the pork.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  6. Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir it into the sauce.
  7. Serve the pulled pork on hamburger buns, topped with coleslaw and pickles if desired.
