Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, salt, and black pepper.
