Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes until bubbly.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and mix in the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses until melted and creamy.
  7. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring until well combined. Mix in the hot sauce to taste.
  8. Transfer the mac and cheese to a greased baking dish.
  9. In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, olive oil, and smoked paprika. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the mac and cheese.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  11. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
