Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 tablespoon za'atar spice mix
  • Olive oil for brushing

Instructions:

  1. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt.
  2. Process until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add water a tablespoon at a time until desired consistency is reached.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more lemon juice or salt as preferred.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut the pita breads into triangles.
  5. Place the pita triangles on a baking sheet, brush with olive oil, and sprinkle with za'atar.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden and crispy, turning halfway through to ensure even browning.
  7. Serve the Spicy Masala Chickpea Hummus with the warm pita chips.
