Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add the melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add 3 1/2 cups of flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add more flour as needed.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.
  8. Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and immediately brush the tops with melted butter. Serve warm.
