Ingredients:

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
  • 1 large onion, finely sliced
  • 3-4 green chilies, slit
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions:

  1. Heat ghee or oil in a karahi or heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
  2. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter, then add the sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, cooking for an additional 2 minutes.
  4. Add the chicken cubes and cook until they are browned on all sides.
  5. Mix in the turmeric, coriander powder, and salt, stirring well to coat the chicken.
  6. Add the yogurt and water, cover, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  7. Once cooked, stir in the heavy cream and garam masala, allowing it to simmer for another 5 minutes.
  8. Finish with a squeeze of lemon juice and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
