  • 1 lb chicken wings or drumsticks
  • 1/2 cup starch syrup
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon fine red pepper powder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the starch syrup, ketchup, gochujang, soy sauce, minced garlic, fine red pepper powder, and brown sugar. Mix well to create the sauce.
  2. In a separate bowl, coat the chicken pieces with the sauce, ensuring they are evenly covered. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the marinated chicken pieces in batches, frying until golden brown and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes per batch.
  4. Remove the chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  5. Toss the fried chicken in the remaining sauce to coat, then serve immediately.
