Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for glaze
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar for sprinkling

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and gently roll out to about 1/2-inch thickness.
  5. Cut out doughnut shapes using a doughnut cutter or two round cookie cutters. Re-roll scraps as needed.
  6. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Arrange the doughnuts in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they aren't touching.
  8. Air fry for 5-6 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Repeat with remaining doughnuts.
  9. While the doughnuts cool, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  10. Dip the cooled doughnuts into the glaze and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before serving.
