Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in the egg yolk and cold water until the dough comes together. Form it into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface and fit it into a tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden. Let it cool.
  5. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering. Remove from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate, stirring until smooth.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract and orange zest for added flavor.
  7. Pour the chocolate ganache into the cooled tart shell and spread evenly. Allow it to set at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  8. Arrange the halved strawberries on top of the ganache just before serving. Chill slightly if desired.
