Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup milk (for icing)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, salt, and eggs to the yeast mixture, stirring until well combined.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling. Set aside.
  6. Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.
  8. Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Cut into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking pan.
  9. Cover the pan and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. While the rolls are baking, prepare the icing by beating cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, maple syrup, and milk together until smooth.
  12. Once the rolls are done, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly before drizzling with the cream cheese icing.
