Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter and mix until crumbly.
  3. Stir in the egg yolk and cold water until the dough forms. Press the dough into a tart pan evenly across the bottom and up the sides.
  4. Blind bake the crust for 15 minutes, then remove from the oven.
  5. In another bowl, combine cranberries, granulated sugar, orange zest, vanilla extract, almond extract, and cornstarch. Mix well.
  6. Pour the cranberry mixture into the baked tart crust, spreading it evenly. Top with sliced almonds.
  7. Bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the cranberries are bubbly and the almonds are golden.
  8. Allow to cool before slicing. Serve as is or with a dollop of whipped cream.
