Ingredients:

  • 1 block firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup honey (or maple syrup for vegan option)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Chopped green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the tofu cubes to the skillet in a single layer and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, lower the heat and add the ginger and garlic, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Stir in the honey (or maple syrup), soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil, cooking for another minute until combined and slightly thickened.
  7. Add the crispy tofu back into the skillet, tossing to coat well with the glaze.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
