  • 4 fresh habanero peppers, stemmed and chopped
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 ripe banana, mashed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey or agave syrup (optional, to taste)
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped habanero peppers, raisins, apple cider vinegar, ground cinnamon, mashed banana, olive oil, salt, and water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the raisins are soft and the peppers are tender.
  3. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  4. Using a blender or immersion blender, puree the sauce until smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add more water to reach your desired consistency.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding honey or agave syrup if you prefer a sweeter sauce.
  6. Transfer the hot sauce to a clean glass jar or bottle and refrigerate. The flavors will meld and improve over time.
