Ingredients:

  • 2 medium russet potatoes
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Pickles
  • Cooking oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Peel the potatoes and grate them using a box grater. Rinse the grated potatoes in cold water to remove excess starch and then thoroughly dry them with a clean kitchen towel.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Scoop a handful of the potato mixture into the skillet, flattening it to form a patty. Cook until golden brown and crispy on one side, about 4-5 minutes, then flip and cook the other side until golden. Repeat until all potatoes are cooked.
  4. In a separate skillet, season the ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into patties and cook over medium heat for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness is reached.
  5. During the last minute of cooking the burgers, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and ketchup to create a sauce.
  7. To assemble, place a hashbrown patty as the base, add a burger patty with melted cheese, top with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and drizzle with the sauce. Finish with another hashbrown patty on top.
