Ingredients:

  • 1 cup strong brewed espresso, cooled
  • 1/2 cup limoncello liqueur
  • 24 ladyfingers
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Fresh lemon slices, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the cooled espresso and limoncello. Set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue to whip until stiff peaks form.
  3. In another bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, lemon zest, and vanilla extract. Gently fold in the whipped cream until well combined.
  4. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the limoncello-espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
  5. Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a rectangular dish.
  6. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, smoothing it out evenly.
  7. Add another layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  9. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with fresh lemon slices.
