Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  7. While the brownies are baking, prepare the maple glaze by mixing the maple syrup, maple extract, and powdered sugar in a bowl until smooth.
  8. Once the brownies are done, allow them to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then drizzle the maple glaze over the top while still warm.
  9. Let the brownies cool completely before cutting into squares and serving.
