Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warmed milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the melted butter, egg, and the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, roll the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Brush with maple syrup and sprinkle chopped pecans evenly over the surface.
  6. Roll the dough tightly into a log, then slice into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While the rolls are baking, mix powdered sugar with milk to create a glaze. Adjust consistency as desired.
  10. Once baked, drizzle the maple glaze over the warm rolls and serve immediately.
