  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vanilla frosting
  • Green fondant (for lettuce)
  • Red fondant (for tomatoes)
  • Yellow fondant (for cheese)
  • Chocolate fondant (for burger patty)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of vanilla frosting on top.
  10. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with vanilla frosting.
  11. Roll out the fondant and cut out shapes to resemble burger toppings (lettuce, tomato, cheese, and patty) and place them decoratively on top of the cake.
