Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup oil
  • ⅓ cup melted butter or clarified butter
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ⅓ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp custard powder
  • 1 tbsp semolina
  • 1 tbsp gram flour
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg powder
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • Orange food color (optional)
  • Chopped almonds for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, oil, and powdered sugar. Mix until well combined.
  3. Add the milk and a few drops of orange food color if desired, and mix thoroughly.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, custard powder, semolina, gram flour, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg powder.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  7. Sprinkle the chopped almonds evenly over the top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
