Ingredients:

  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Vanilla bean ice cream for serving

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, 1/2 cup of sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss gently to coat and set aside to let the juices mingle.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining 1/2 cup of sugar.
  4. Stir in the milk and melted butter until just combined; do not overmix.
  5. Pour the peach mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Spoon the batter evenly over the peaches.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the batter comes out clean.
