Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickle relish
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for toasting buns

Instructions:

  1. Preheat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  2. Divide the ground beef into four equal portions and shape them into balls. Do not overwork the meat.
  3. Once the skillet is hot, place the beef balls on the skillet and press down with a spatula to form patties. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes until a crust forms. Flip the patties, place a slice of American cheese on each, and cook for an additional 2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  5. While the patties are cooking, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and pickle relish in a small bowl to make the ShackSauce.
  6. In another skillet, melt a little butter over medium heat and toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by spreading ShackSauce on the bottom bun, adding the lettuce and tomato, followed by the cheese-covered patty. Top with the other half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade ShackBurger!
