Ingredients:

  • 1 can apple pie filling
  • 1 box spice cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the spice cake mix, melted butter, water, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir until well combined.
  3. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and pour half of the spice cake batter into the dish, spreading it evenly.
  4. Next, spoon the apple pie filling over the batter, spreading it out evenly.
  5. Pour the remaining spice cake batter on top of the apple filling, smoothing it out gently.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and chopped pecans (if using). Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the batter.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
