Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate (70% cocoa), chopped
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar. Add softened butter and egg yolk, and mix until crumbly.
  3. Press the mixture into a tart pan, covering the bottom and sides evenly. Prick the crust with a fork and chill for 15 minutes.
  4. Bake the crust for 15 minutes, then remove and let cool slightly.
  5. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering. Remove from heat and add chopped dark chocolate, stirring until melted and smooth.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, orange zest, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
  7. Pour the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and stir until smooth.
  8. Pour the filling into the cooled tart crust and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the filling is set but still slightly wobbly in the center.
  9. Allow the tart to cool completely before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or a dusting of powdered sugar, if desired.
