Ingredients:

  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the pre-made pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan and bake according to package instructions until golden brown. Allow to cool.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the strawberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Toss gently to coat the strawberries evenly.
  4. Pour the strawberry mixture into the cooled pie crust and spread it evenly.
  5. Bake the pie for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is bubbly and the strawberries are softened. Remove from the oven and let it cool to room temperature.
  6. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Gently fold in the chopped basil.
  7. Once the pie has cooled, slice and serve with a generous dollop of basil cream on top.
