Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar until well coated.
  3. Spread the apple mixture evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, melted butter, and salt. If using, add chopped walnuts for extra crunch.
  5. Mix until crumbly and sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the apples are bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
