Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons culinary lavender buds
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Jam of your choice for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in the warmed milk with 1 tablespoon of honey. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, remaining honey, melted butter, eggs, salt, lavender buds, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture and knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover the loaf with the cloth and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  9. Allow the loaf to cool slightly before serving with your favorite jam.
